Frequently asked questions.

1. What can I expect in my first counseling session?

In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other, discussing what brings you to counseling, and identifying your goals. It’s also a chance for you to ask me any questions and see if I’m the right fit for your needs.

2. How long is a counseling session?

Most sessions last about 50 minutes. Some clients prefer longer sessions if needed, and we can discuss what works best for you.

3. How often will I need to come to counseling?

That depends on your personal goals and needs. Many clients start with weekly sessions and then move to every other week or monthly as progress is made. We’ll work together to find a schedule that feels comfortable and effective.

4. How long will I be in counseling?

The length of counseling varies for each person. Some clients benefit from short-term counseling for a specific concern, while others find long-term support helpful. We will regularly check in on your goals to make sure counseling is meeting your needs.

5. Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share in counseling is private and confidential with a few exceptions required by law, such as concerns of harm to yourself, others, or reports of abuse. We’ll review confidentiality in detail during your first session.

6. Do you accept insurance?

I am in network with Aetna, Ascension, BCBS (HMO and PPO), Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Quest Behavioral Health and also provide private-pay options. If you’re using insurance, I recommend contacting your provider to verify your benefits and coverage.

7. What if I don’t feel comfortable in counseling?

Finding the right counselor is important. If at any point you feel counseling isn’t meeting your needs, please let me know—we can adjust our approach or discuss other resources.

8. What kinds of issues do you help with?

I work with clients experiencing stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, trauma, and personal growth. I also have extensive experience supporting children and teens with ADHD, Autism, and learning differences, as well as first responders and individuals coping with crisis-related stress.

9. Do you offer online/virtual counseling?

Yes! I offer secure online sessions to fit your schedule and comfort level.

10. What should I do if I need immediate help?

Counseling sessions are not designed for emergency situations. If you are in crisis or feeling unsafe, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or dial 988 to connect with the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
